State of Mind at Ygallery 2010
State of Mind exhibition was held at Y Gallery For Contemporary Art March 5th - March 30, 2010
The reception took place at 7 pm on March 5th at Ygallery, Minsk, Belarus.
The exhibition is funded by Swedish Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. The exhibition is inaugurated by Olle Wästberg (Swedish Institute) and Anna Ekberg (Swedish Embassy in Minsk). State of Mind in Minsk is a collaboration between Y Gallery for Contemporary Art and Aview Nomad Gallery.

The LTT in Minsk was held in the gallery on March 6th
Master Class was held in gallery on March 8th
Leaving Your Traces Minsk, was made from March 6 to March 9th, interviews with 16 women and men.
Predominantly filmed in the gallery due to winter conditions.

A Case Presentation was made from Minsk to Hanasaari – the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre. Annica Karlsson Rixon and Anna Viola Hallberg from University of Gothenburg at Ygallery in Minsk, Belarus. Annica Karlsson Rixon and Anna Viola Hallberg are visual artists with a strong engagement for the social issues such as gender, class and sexuality. Discussion with the artists and director Olle Wästberg from The Swedish institute. The video moderated panel was led and introduced by research secretary Johan Öberg, University of Gothenburg.

1. T: How many LGBT organizations are there in Minsk/Belarus? Do they cooperate with one another? Do men’s and women’s organizations cooperate? Can you say that there is a strong movement?

2. T: What is Lukashenko’s view on LGBT movement? Does he know that LGBT community exists in Minsk/Belarus?

Выстава «Стан розуму»
Пасольства Швецыі ў Мінску пры падтрымцы Шведскага Iнстытута праводзіць у Галерэя сучаснага мастацтва "Ў" (г. Мінск, пр. Незалежнасці, 37а) фотавыставу “Стан розуму”. Адкрыцце выставы адбудзецца 5 сакавіка 2010 года ў 19.00.

Праект «Стан розуму» - праект шведских мастачак Анікі Карлсан Рыксан і Ганны Віёла Хальберг, які даследуе этычныя, юрыдычныя, сацыяльныя аспекты жыцця прадстаўнікоў сэксуальных меншасцяў у Расіі. Тэмай дыскусіі выступаюць дэфіцыт vs. магчымасці, дачыненне vs. адчужэнне, прадвызначаная vs. абраная ідэнтычнасць.

«Стан розуму» прадстаўляе сабой дыскусію на тэму інтэркультурных перспектываў палітыкі ідэнтычнасці. Гісторыі заснаваны на дакументальным матэрыяле, які збіраўся ва ўмовах поўнага даверу людзей, у якіх браліся інтэрв’ю, да мастакоў падчас збору дадзеных. Цэнтральнымі пытаннямі сталі пытанні лідэрства, дэмакратыі і правоў чалавека.

На сямі маніторах адначасова 39 чалавек з палітычнага і персанальнага пункту гледжання апісваюць жыццё ў Пецярбургу ў ракурсе праблем сэксуальных меншасцяў, Усходу і Захаду, прыватных сітуацый і канфрантацый, а таксама сваё бачанне будучыні. Сярод іх людзі ад 17 да 67 гадоў, студэнткі, журналісткі, псіхолагі, стрыптызёркі, дактары, офісныя работнікі, кіроўцы, паэткі, юрысты, навуковыя супрацоўнікі, прадпрымальніцы, рок-зоркі, гаспадыні дому і г.д. Відэаінсталяцыя ўяўляе сабой групавы партрэт з выявай Нявы на заднім плане. На фотаздымках вялікага фармату сябры і сямейнікі збіраюцца ў гістарычных месцах Пецярбурга.

State of Mind and the artists
State of Mind is an art installation by Annica Karlsson Rixon and Anna Viola Hallberg exploring the boundaries between ethics, legislation, prejudice and civic expectations in the LGBTQ life of Russia focusing on lesbians and bisexual women. It discusses subjects such as shortcomings vs. possibilities, belonging vs. alienation, appointed- vs. selected identity.

Annica Karlsson Rixon and Anna Viola Hallberg are visual artists with a strong engagement for the social issues such as gender, class and sexuality. They are working on an installation trilogy Resonance, State of Mind and Code of Silence dealing with socially and culturally constructed identity-based groups in contemporary society.
